A long-standing player in the energy sector, the Parlym engineering group offers its employees a wide variety of career opportunities, in France and internationally — as in the case of Alexandre Pipart, Operations Director.
The Parlym Group is currently working on a large-scale project management assignment in the nuclear field. On the shores of the Étang de Berre, it acted as owner’s engineer for the maintenance and refurbishment of industrial facilities. “I was recruited in 2016 to work on nuclear projects known as Ultimate Backup Diesels (DUS), then a little later on ‘revamping’ projects for existing industrial units, to increase their capacity and keep them performing”, explains Alexandre Pipart. “Both experiences were intellectually very rich.”
The careers Parlym offers in France and internationally mirror its projects: highly diverse, from drawing up framework contracts to building turnkey industrial projects, by way of the new challenges posed by artificial intelligence. “There are many international mobility opportunities; young engineers can start their career in one of our design offices in France and then move on to Côte d’Ivoire or Cameroon, for example”, continues Alexandre Pipart, who quickly moved into management roles before taking direct responsibility for large projects such as the construction of plants and storage facilities. In 2022 he became the Group’s Operations Director. “Parlym has given me stimulating opportunities, with a real ability to move quickly from delivery to management.”
WELLBEING AT WORK, A PRIORITY FOR THE GROUP
To support its employees, Parlym has developed a rich training offer, including internal and external training cycles to broaden their technical knowledge. Cross-functional support is also provided, with bridges between entities to offer the richest possible career. “Many initiatives are taken to improve wellbeing at work: flexible working hours, comfortable premises, team-building activities, sports sponsorship, and so on. Surveys are carried out regularly with employees on this subject.”
The Group is also involved in the local life of the regions where it operates. A dedicated endowment fund, called DEMAIN, has been set up to finance environmental and social projects. It recently supported the construction of a health centre in Guinea, and an employee’s participation in a village electrification project in Africa. Finally, Parlym has set up an energy transition department. “This department has a twofold purpose: to make our engineering services available, but also to decarbonise our own activities, in transport and buildings”, concludes Alexandre Pipart.
